Laundry Room Cabinets

Put the cabinets up today.  Had to take down the wire shelf that came with the house.  Unfortunately it was attached with drywall anchors.  Be very careful when removing them.  If at all possible, pull the nail out before pulling the anchor out.  I did cause some drywall damage which took a little while to fix with joint compound.

Once that was fixed, I painted the room light blue (hard to tell in pictures).  The cabinets are from Home Depot and cost about $100 each.  Using old textbooks and a level, hanging the cabinets was pretty simple.  I mounted two 2x6's behind them to make them easier to reach.

Anyway, pictures below.  Let me know what you think.

  2. Absolut - Not sure where you live! It was pretty simple and I was able to do it alone, but that's because I could lift / balance with one arm while sliding the textbooks under with the other. Would have been easier with 2 people but I wanted to get it done.

  3. Lol, I am in NE Ohio.. I was just kidding about you coming over to do mine, but if you really insist... I'm game :) They do look great, and I can definitely relate to wanting things done and doing things alone out of impatience... been there, done that..

How is everything else around the house going?

  8. Where did you find those cabinets? I would love to do something like that in our laundry room.

  9. Home Depot, they regularly have 20% off sales on in-stock cabinets.

  10. What size are the ones you got? I'm seriously in love with them! They haven't even broke ground on my Ryan home yet and I'm already designing my laundry room! lol

  11. I believe this is what we purchased. They are 30" wide. Two units will pretty much fill up the wall. Don't get the 36's if you have the Milan! Wait until they go on sale (no less than 20%) and have them ready for the move. They're easy to put up, I did it alone with a set of books and knowledge of where my studs are.

  12. Thank you so much for your help! I am building the Yorkshire. The laundry room is on the first floor and is a little wider - there's room for a laundry sink next to the washer and dryer but I'm not getting it.

  13. This is "Christina and John" -- I updated my profile name and started a blog myself! I just thought I would let you know that as soon as I read this post and discussed these cabinets with you, I contacted our sales rep and had her "delete" the shelf in the laundry room! Please let me know if you have any other advice. I really enjoy reading your blog!

  14. Wow, I wish I knew we could delete the shelf in there! They use drywall anchors that had made quite a mess when I removed them. I didn't worry too much about it since the cabinets were going over them, but it was annoying. Glad you caught it.
